Popularity of Video Classifieds

With the usage of newspaper classified ads becoming nonexistent due to its more advanced counterparts, the world is experiencing a change in how it advertises. The most widely known and most popular method of personal advertisement is internet classified ads. This proactive system of easy-to-do, self-advertising has generated billions of dollars worth of sales for the sellers and the internet companies of who provide the service. It is practical in every sense of the word; anyone can advertise their product or service with the click of a button, it only takes a few minutes, and it is typically offered for free.

Popularity of Video Classifieds

However, despite all of the benefits of online classified ads, there are a few disadvantages. For one, they are not very exciting. A typical online classified ad consists of a limited amount of words jammed into the description box of the item offered. Many ads do not have accompanying images to help promote the item; it is usually black and white and boring. If a regular classified ad does have images attached, they are non-dimensional and lifeless. Oftentimes, people will grab an image from the web and stick it on their ad- how are you supposed to know that the product you see is legitimate? When writing an online ad, there is limited space in the description area to fully describe your item. Thus, all of these reasons create an uneasy atmosphere for potential buyers and a frustrating outlook in sales for the advertiser.

Fairly recently, a new classified ad concept has emerged to solve all of these problems. Video classified advertising is beginning to make its way into everyone's homes. This innovative service offers an easy way for advertisers to showcase their products. Any item imaginable can be videotaped and posted on the internet so that viewers can see it firsthand. In addition, the advertiser can discuss their product while they are videotaping. For example, it is common for people to do a video on their car so that the buyer can more easily view the condition of the car- inside and out- before making the purchase. Of course, this theory goes with any product. It has been proven that more items are sold through the usage of video classified ads than any other method. The buyer feels more comfortable in purchasing an item that they can actually see.

As a consumer, video classified ads are an obvious positive development in the world of advertising. While some products, such as a concert or game ticket, would not benefit as much from video ads, most everything else does. Tangible items such as vehicles, furniture, property, arts and crafts, and electronics fair best in this type of advertisement. Although video ads are still behind in sales compared to regular classifieds, it is only because they are new and the idea is still emerging. At the same time, it has been said that video classifieds are growing at a much faster rate- almost double- than regular classified ads did. With the numbers climbing, video classified ads should surpass online ads in popularity within a short period of time. Some reports suggest that by December 31, 2009, video ads will have taken over. So, it only makes sense to jump on the bandwagon and post video ads!
